The Schleich Stegosaurus is one of the most recognisable dinosaurs of all. With two rows of towering plates along its back and four dangerous spikes on its tail, this huge plant-eater was well prepared for life in the Jurassic world.
When Did Stegosaurus Live?
Stegosaurus lived during the Late Jurassic Period, around 155 to 145 million years ago. It shared its prehistoric world with famous dinosaurs such as Allosaurus, Diplodocus and Apatosaurus.
What Did Stegosaurus Eat?
Despite its impressive armour and spiky tail, Stegosaurus was a herbivore. It used its small head and leaf-shaped teeth to feed on low-growing plants, including ferns, cycads and other leafy vegetation.
How Big Was Stegosaurus?
Stegosaurus could grow approximately 6 to 9 metres long, and large adults may have weighed several tonnes. Although it had an enormous body, its head was surprisingly small.
Where Did Stegosaurus Live?
Stegosaurus fossils have been discovered mainly in western North America, as well as in Portugal. It lived in prehistoric landscapes filled with rivers, floodplains, open woodland and plenty of low-growing plants to eat.
