When Did Ceratosaurus Live?

Ceratosaurus lived during the Late Jurassic Period, around 157 to 145 million years ago. It shared its prehistoric world with famous dinosaurs such as Allosaurus, Stegosaurus, Diplodocus and Apatosaurus.

What Did Ceratosaurus Eat?

Ceratosaurus was a carnivore. It probably hunted smaller dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals, while also taking advantage of any easy meal it could scavenge. Its deep jaws held long, blade-shaped teeth designed for biting into meat.

How Big Was Ceratosaurus?

Ceratosaurus generally grew approximately 5 to 7 metres long and may have weighed between 400 kilograms and 1.2 tonnes. Although formidable, it was smaller and more lightly built than some of the other large predators living alongside it.

Where Did Ceratosaurus Live?

Ceratosaurus lived around rivers, floodplains, woodland and seasonal lakes. Fossils have been found in North America and Portugal, showing that this distinctive predator once lived on both sides of the ancient Atlantic region.
