The Schleich Agustinia is a striking long-necked dinosaur with rows of narrow spines along its back. This unusual plant-eater once roamed prehistoric Argentina, but because scientists have found only one incomplete skeleton, much about Agustinia remains a mystery.

When Did Agustinia Live?

Agustinia lived during the Early Cretaceous Period, around 116 to 108 million years ago. It appeared millions of years after famous Jurassic sauropods such as Brontosaurus and Diplodocus.

What Did Agustinia Eat?

Agustinia was a herbivore. Like other sauropods, it probably used its long neck to browse across a wide area, stripping leaves and other vegetation with its teeth before swallowing its food.

How Big Was Agustinia?

Scientists cannot be certain about its size because the only known skeleton is very incomplete. Some estimates suggest Agustinia may have grown approximately 15 metres long and weighed several tonnes, making it another impressive member of the long-necked sauropod family.

Where Did Agustinia Live?

Agustinia lived in what is now Neuquén Province in Argentina. Its fossil remains were discovered in rocks belonging to the Lohan Cura Formation, preserving a small glimpse of an Early Cretaceous landscape.
