Hot Wheels Race Day Corvette C8.R
Mid-engine muscle built for the long fight
Its headlights cut through the dawn as the C8.R fires into life — low, wide, and unmistakably predatory. The mid-engine layout gives it a new posture, a new urgency, a sense that the weight of tradition has shifted behind the driver. In silver and yellow, the #4 car glints like a blade under pit-lane lights, ready for hours of relentless pressure. On track, the howl of its 5.5-litre V8 is a promise: this Corvette wasn’t built for quick moments — it was built for the grind of endurance. For collectors, the C8.R marks a turning point, where America’s sportscar embraced a new era without losing its soul.

Debut of a New Era
The C8.R debuted at the 2020 24 Hours of Daytona, representing a major shift for Corvette Racing: the first factory Corvette built around a rear mid-engine layout. Developed by Pratt & Miller in collaboration with Chevrolet, the car introduced a 5.5-litre flat-plane-crank V8 designed for endurance efficiency and durability.
While the #3 car kept the iconic yellow, the #4 C8.R launched in a striking silver and yellow scheme inspired by the 1973 Aerovette concept — a deliberate nod to Corvette design heritage. Mechanical issues limited its first outing, but its pace and balance became clear as the season progressed.
Endurance Engineering & Livery Significance
Purpose-built for the GTLM class, the C8.R integrates an aluminium-intensive structure, extensive aerodynamic optimisation, and a race-ready suspension layout designed for stability over long stints. With around 650 Nm of torque and a wide usable power band, the engine excels in multi-class traffic and varying track conditions.
Driven by notable talents such as Tommy Milner, Nick Tandy, and Alexander Sims, the #4 car became an immediate focal point thanks to its unique livery and the symbolic weight of Corvette’s platform change. Its sharp, metallic presence made it one of the most memorable cars of the C8.R era.
