Gullwing Gone Rogue — Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series

The Most Extreme SLS AMG
The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG was already a remarkable machine. Developed entirely by AMG, it combined a front-mid-mounted V8 engine with rear-wheel drive, a rear-mounted transmission, and dramatic gullwing doors inspired by the legendary Mercedes-Benz 300 SL.
The Black Series pushed that formula much further. AMG increased the engine’s output, reduced weight through greater use of carbon fibre, widened the body, sharpened the chassis, and added an aggressive aerodynamic package influenced by the SLS AMG GT3 racing car. The result was lighter, louder, faster, and considerably less interested in behaving like a civilised grand tourer.
Only around 350 examples were produced, helping the Black Series become one of the rarest and most desirable modern AMG models. Its enormous naturally aspirated engine and theatrical bodywork also marked the end of an era before turbocharging became dominant across the Mercedes-AMG range.
A Natural Fit for the Fast & Furious Universe
Although this release is associated with Furious 7, Mattel describes vehicles in the Premium Fast & Furious range as being inspired by or featured in the franchise. The SLS AMG Black Series certainly fits the character of that world: rare, exotic, enormously powerful, and visually unmistakable.
Its combination of British-rival-hunting performance, German engineering, and menacing aerodynamic bodywork also makes it easy to associate with Deckard Shaw.
