Hot Wheels Boulevard Porsche 935
The Rulebook Bent — Porsche 935
Someone reads the regulations twice. Then a third time.
The Porsche 935 sits there, low and wide, daring them to find the problem. Headlights pushed flat. Tail stretched long. Everything legal — technically.
While others built racers, Porsche built an argument. Twin turbos spool like a threat. Power arrives early, hard, and without apology.
This wasn’t a car that waited to be improved. It showed up finished. And then it kept winning — whether driven by factory aces or hungry privateers.
Trackside, it earned a nickname whispered with respect and frustration alike: “Moby Dick.”
Because once it found clean air, nothing could reel it back in. And the seven‑year‑old inside you knew immediately — this was what happens when engineers stop asking if they should.
About the Real Car
The Porsche 935 was a Group 5 “silhouette” race car developed by Porsche AG between 1977 and 1981, designed by legendary engineer Norbert Singer. Based loosely on the 911 but radically re‑engineered, the 935 exploited the rules to create one of the most dominant endurance racers of its era.
- Engine layout: Rear‑mounted twin‑turbocharged flat‑six
- Displacement: 3.0 litres (early 935/76)
- Power output: Approximately 396 kW (531 bhp)
- Drivetrain: Rear‑wheel drive
Early versions such as the 935/76 were campaigned exclusively by Porsche’s factory teams, while later evolutions — including the 935/77 and the extreme 935/78 — were sold to privateers. Around 80 cars were produced in total, with roughly half built by Porsche and the remainder constructed by specialist teams such as Kremer Racing.
